Root & Shadow was built around a simple idea. A salon should feel considered. The work, the pace, the environment. Everything should feel intentional and aligned with the people in it. R&S was started by Lizzie in a tiny basement studio with one chair and a handful of clients. From the beginning, it drew people who were looking for something more personal. Hair that felt like them, and an experience that felt easy to settle into. It also became a space where queerness is just part of the room, and something to be celebrated. That foundation shaped what Root & Shadow is now. A shared space where the work is thoughtful, the approach is intuitive, and the experience is just as important as the result.We care about the details. We care about how people feel when they’re here. And we care about creating hair that actually fits the person wearing it. Most people notice it right away. Cancellation Policy
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to a fee of 50% of the scheduled service total.
I know life happens, and emergencies will always be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you’re sick, please reach out to reschedule — I never want this policy to discourage staying home when unwell, especially as an immunocompromised provider.
